Jammu: Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma on Tuesday reviewed the evolving security situation in Kashmir and chaired a high-level meeting in Srinagar with senior formation commanders and representatives of other security agencies.
Officials said that the meeting focused on assessing the prevailing security scenario in the Valley and ensuring coordinated preparedness among various forces.
“The Northern Commander engaged with formation commanders and representatives of sister agencies to deliberate on the current security situation and review operational readiness,” he said.
Lieutenant General Sharma reiterated that the Northern Command remains committed to safeguarding the safety and security of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
He emphasised sustained vigilance and close coordination among security agencies to maintain peace and stability in the region.
The review comes against the backdrop of heightened tensions in West Asia following recent US and Israeli strikes on Iran that reportedly led to the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The developments have triggered retaliatory actions by Iran targeting Israeli positions and US bases in parts of the Middle East, including the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
Officials said security forces across Jammu and Kashmir are maintaining a high level of alertness in view of the emerging geopolitical situation.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has also issued a nationwide alert to states and Union Territories, cautioning them about the possibility of protests or sporadic incidents linked to the unfolding developments abroad.
