Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday appealed for calm and restraint in view of the recent developments in the Middle East, while warning against incidents of violence and public disorder.
In a statement, police said that while citizens have the right to express themselves peacefully through lawful means, incidents of rioting, stone-pelting, clashes, and disruption of public order at certain places are unacceptable.
“Violence, destruction of property and confrontation with security forces result in injuries, loss of life, restrictions, closure of educational institutions, and hardships for families, traders, students and daily wagers,” the statement said.
Police urged all sections of society to exercise restraint and refrain from violence or provocation.
It warned that strict legal action will be taken against instigators and miscreants involved in unlawful activities. Authorities reiterated their commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting life and property.
