Reasi : Under the visionary leadership of Khalil Choudhary, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, (also Pr. District and Sessions Judge Reasi) and the able guidance of Secretary Pooja Gupta, an awareness programme on Mediation for Nation 2.0 was organized Tuesday at District Court Complex.

The programme witnessed active participation from Panel Lawyers/Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) and ALADC members Dheeraj Thakur and Niharika Bamotra. The programme aimed at promoting amicable settlement of disputes through mediation mechanisms, thereby reducing litigation burden and ensuring speedy, cost-effective and accessible justice for the common people.

Another awareness programme on Assistance for disabled beneficiaries was conducted by the Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) at District Hospital. PLVs assisted specially-abled persons in obtaining their Unique Disability Identity (UDID) Cards.

The beneficiaries were guided regarding the registration process, submission of documents, medical assessment procedures and the benefits associated with the UDID card.

Awareness on Water Consumption and Conservation was generated at various places of Tehsil Mahore (including Dewal, Govt. Middle School Angralla etc.).

The PLVs promoted sustainability through education, community engagement and practical conservation techniques. Stress was laid on strategies like fixing leaks, using efficient fixtures (aerators, low-flow showerheads) and reducing daily waste. People were advised to adopt Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Refuse and Recover techniques to manage water in households.

Similarly, an awareness programme on Prohibition of Dowry was also held at Panchayat Karua – Mahore. The programme was conducted with the objective of sensitizing the general public about the social evil of dowry and the legal provisions under the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961.

The PLVs highlighted the adverse social consequences of the dowry system and highlighted the punishments prescribed under law for giving or taking dowry.
