Kulgam : Police have seized five vehicles in connection with illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Shopian and Kulgam districts.
In Shopian, a police team from Police Post Keegam intercepted a dumper, a tractor and a JCB engaged in illegal mining without valid royalty documents. An FIR (No. 25/2026) has been registered at Police Station Shopian and investigation has been initiated.
In Kulgam, two tippers were seized in the Khudwani-Qaimoh area during naka checking by a police team from Police Station Qaimoh. The vehicles were found transporting minerals without valid documents. An FIR (No. 19/2026) has been registered at Police Station Qaimoh and further investigation is underway. Police reiterated their commitment to safeguarding natural resources and taking strict action against those involved in illegal mining. Citizens have been urged to report such activities, with assurance that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.
