Srinagar : Police in Awantipora on Monday arrested five persons and seized five vehicles involved in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals in Datpora and Reshipora areas.
A police team from Police Post Reshipora, led by the Incharge Police Post under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora, intercepted and seized two loaders, two tractors and one dumper used in illegal transportation of minerals.
The arrested persons have been identified as Jahangeer Ahmad Bhat of Chakoora Pulwama, Nadeem Ahmad Mir of Litter Pulwama, Sajad Ahmad Dar of Reshipora, Ali Mohammad Dar of Reshipora and Zubair Ahmad Mir of Reshipora. Police have appealed to share information regarding illegal mineral-related activities in their areas.
