Srinagar :  A Nukad Natak (street play) was organized as a part of, “Two Week Long Road Safety Awareness Program” by the College Cultural Committee of Government College of Education (IASE), Srinagar under the supervision of Dr. Irfat Ara Khan, Dean Students /Convener Cultural Committee, to spread awareness among the public about the importance of following traffic regulations.

The main objective of the play was to educate people about safe road behaviour and to reduce the number of road accidents caused by negligence and carelessness.

The event was held at the central market of polo view area, Lalchowk, where a large number of local residents, shopkeepers, and passers-by gathered to watch the performance. The students enthusiastically presented the play using powerful dialogues, slogans, and realistic scenes to capture the attention of the audience.

The play opened with loud invitation by student performers of the college to all the people around to watch the performance, followed by a lively introduction highlighting the alarming rise in road accidents.

The main focus of this Nukad Natak (street play) was to create awareness about road safety and the dangers of underage driving.

Through impactful dialogues, strong expressions, and realistic enactment, the performers conveyed an important message: “Road safety is everyone’s responsibility and wealth and status cannot protect anyone from the consequences of breaking the law”. The performers emphasized the importance of following traffic rules, obtaining a valid driving licence, wearing helmets, and ensuring responsible parenting as well.

Prof.(Dr.) Seema Naz, Principal IASE, appreciated the efforts made by the students in such events for the benefit of society.
