GGM Science College Lifts Overall Power-Lifting Championship Trophy with Dominant Performance

Jammu : GGM Science College has once again demonstrated its sporting prowess by winning the Overall Championship in the Power-Lifting (Men & Women) Inter-Collegiate Competition for the 2025–2026 session.

The event was held at A-3 Gym in Jammu, where the college athletes excelled in their performances. In the Men’s Section, the college achieved the Overall Championship with a total of 24 points, securing three Gold and three Silver medals. Notable achievements include  Honey Sharma winning Gold in the 74 kg category,  Vaibhav Thakur earning Gold in the 93 kg category along with a Silver in the same weight class, and  Kanav Dogra claiming Gold in the 120 kg category. Additionally,  Yash Dev Singh and  Mohd. Irfan contributed with Silver medals in the 66 kg and 93+ kg categories, respectively. In the Women’s Section, Ms. Nabiha Fatima won a Gold medal in the 57 kg weight category, further solidifying the college’s dominance in the competition. Principal Dr. (Prof.) Romesh Kumar Gupta commended the athletes and acknowledged the efforts of Dr. Devinder Kumar Sharma, I/C Director of Physical Education & Sports, Prof. Vishal Sharma, Sports Incharge for the Men’s Team, and Dr. Bilal Ahmed Malla, P.T.I. He emphasized that power-lifting transcends being just a sport; it is a discipline that fosters character, resilience, and mental strength. He noted that each lift represents months of dedication and focus, highlighting that hard work and self-belief are essential for success. Dr. Devinder Kumar Sharma echoed these sentiments, stating that power-lifting not only enhances physical strength but also builds confidence and self-trust among the athletes.
