Udhampur : The Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute Tuesday commenced a four-week Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Programme at the Government Industrial Training Institute, Udhampur under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance scheme.
The initiative is funded by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India and is being implemented by the Industries and Commerce Department, Jammu and Kashmir.
Thirty-five aspiring entrepreneurs are participating in the 104-hour intensive training programme. The ESDP forms part of a broader initiative being implemented across all districts of Jammu and Kashmir to promote entrepreneurship among youth and equip them with the skills necessary to establish and manage sustainable business ventures.
Superintendent ITI Udhampur, Ravinder Singh Bhatti interacted with the participants and provided an insightful overview of the importance of such skill development initiatives for the betterment of youth. He emphasized the significance of innovative skills in shaping a successful future for young entrepreneurs.
Speaking on the occasion, District Nodal Officer JKEDI Yash Paul presented a comprehensive overview of the programme and highlighted the institute’s continued efforts in fostering self-employment. He reiterated JKEDI’s commitment to empowering local youth through structured capacity-building interventions.
The curriculum covers key modules such as enterprise management, marketing strategies, business simulations, market surveys and field visits. The practical training approach is designed to build core entrepreneurial competencies and enable participants to emerge as self-reliant job creators.
