Nitish Suri reviews development works in Aspirational Block Thakrakote at Reasi

Reasi: The Central Prabhari Officer of Aspirational Block Thakrakote, Nitish Suri, who is also Director Department of Higher Education in the Ministry of Education, Government of India Monday chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress of developmental works being implemented in Aspirational Block Thakrakote.
The meeting was attended by district and block-level officers, who briefed the chair on the status of ongoing projects under key sectors including health, education, agriculture, infrastructure and social welfare. Detailed discussions were held on achievements made so far and challenges faced in the execution of various schemes.
During the meeting, the Chief Planning Officer, Narinder Kumar apprised the Central Prabhari Officer about the performance of Aspirational Block Thakrakote–Reasi. He informed that the block is being monitored on 38 key indicators and has achieved 100 percent progress in several of them. He further stated that Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) have recorded over 90 percent saturation, reflecting significant improvement in service delivery and development outcomes.
Emphasizing the importance of education, the Central Prabhari Officer stressed the need to focus on children’s learning outcomes and directed the concerned departments to identify and bridge gaps in infrastructure, staffing and learning resources to ensure quality education for every child. He also underlined the need to sustain momentum by adopting and replicating best practices and gave special focus to promote LakhpatiDidis to strengthen women’s livelihoods and economic self-reliance.
The Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik informed that Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0 was launched in Aspirational Block Thakrakote and will culminate on April 14, 2026. She stated that a series of activities are being conducted during the campaign, including health screening camps, nutrition drives, awareness programmes, enrolment under welfare schemes, maternal and child health services and other outreach initiatives aimed at achieving saturation of key indicators and improving overall service delivery.
Issues related to BharatNet connectivity were also discussed. It was informed that work is in progress at four sites and network connectivity is expected to be extended to several parts of the block in the coming months. The Executive Engineer, Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited (JPDCL), stated that all panchayats in Block Thakrakote have been electrified to facilitate BharatNet connectivity.
Later, the Central Prabhari Officer visited Block Thakrakote and inspected the Health and Wellness Centre, where he reviewed facilities being provided to the locals, including availability of medicines and diagnostic services. He also visited Government Middle School Thakrakote and reviewed student enrolment, staff strength and infrastructure, reiterating the need to strengthen educational parameters.
The CPO further reviewed the utilization of funds under the Aspirational Block Programme and directed the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Reasi to ensure adequate staff deployment in the new academic session so that academic activities remain uninterrupted.
During his tour, the Central Prabhari Officer also visited Pannasa Panchayat and interacted with locals, who raised issues related to upgradation of Government Middle School Thakrakote, improvement of road connectivity, availability of ambulance services and opening of a J&K Bank branch. The locals also demanded early operationalization of Jal Jeevan Mission schemes, addressing staff shortages in Government Higher Secondary School Pannasa and establishment of a Government Degree College.
Additional demands included strengthening of the Health Department, construction of new Anganwadi buildings, establishment of a sports stadium and promotion of Self Help Groups (SHGs) to enhance livelihood opportunities. The Central Prabhari Officer assured the public that their genuine issues and demands would be taken up with the concerned departments for appropriate action.
The Central Prabhari Officer said that the main objective of the programme was to give focused attention to Aspirational Block Thakrakote. He stated that the works that are lagging behind in the block will be improved in the coming years. He added that the aim of the Central and State Governments is to ensure maximum development in key sectors such as health, education and infrastructure so that the standard of living of the people in the area improves. He urged the people to actively participate in the social audit of development works so that funds are utilized in a transparent and effective manner for public welfare.
He also inspected the stalls set up by different line departments, where officials briefed him about the schemes and services being implemented in the block. The stalls showcased initiatives related to health, education, agriculture, rural development, social welfare and livelihoods. The Central Prabhari Officer, Nitish Suri, interacted with the departmental staff, reviewed the progress of ongoing programmes and issued necessary directions for improving outreach and effectiveness. He emphasized the need for ensuring last-mile delivery of government schemes and greater public awareness so that maximum benefits reach the deserving population. He also planted a sapling of Terminalia arjuna as part of an environmental conservation initiative.
ADDC Sukhdev Singh Samyal, CEO Depak Gupta, Chief Agriculture Officer Harbans Singh, Chief Horticulture Officer, Tehsildar Thakrakote, BDO and concerned officers were also present.
