Jammu : GGM Science College emerged as the Overall Winner in the Pencak- Silat (Men) Inter-Collegiate Competition for the Session 2025–2026 by securing four Gold Medals and a total of 35 points. The prestigious event was organized by Cluster University of Jammu and hosted at the college campus, witnessing enthusiastic participation from various affiliated institutions.
Demonstrating remarkable strength, discipline, and sportsmanship, the Men’s Pencak-Silat team of GGM Science College delivered an outstanding performance. Mr. Shaid clinched Gold in the 55–60 kg category, Mr. Manik Banmotra secured Gold in the 65–70 kg category, Ayaan Sahil Singh Chark bagged Gold in the 85–90 kg category, and Mr. Majid triumphed with Gold in the 90–95 kg category. Their exceptional achievements ensured the college’s dominant position in the tournament. Adding to the laurels, Mr. Ayaan Sahil Singh Chark, an outstanding Pencak-Silat player, has previously represented the institution at the All India Championship, where he also won a Gold Medal, bringing further pride to the college. In the Women’s Section, Miss Priya Devi showcased commendable talent by winning a Gold Medal in the Under 45 kg Individual Event, reflecting the institution’s growing excellence in martial arts across categories. On the occasion, Principal Dr. (Prof.) Romesh Kumar Gupta congratulated the victorious team and appreciated the dedicated efforts of Dr. Devinder Kumar Sharma and Dr. Bilal Ahmed Malla (P.T.I.), Incharge of the Pencak-Silat (Men) team. He reiterated the college’s commitment to promoting a vibrant sports culture and holistic development among students. Dr. Gupta encouraged students to actively participate in sports and extracurricular activities to foster physical fitness, leadership qualities, and resilience.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Devinder Kumar Sharma emphasized that sports are powerful life lessons that instill discipline, teamwork, and determination. He cautioned students against the dangers of drug abuse, highlighting that while sports build character and confidence, drugs destroy health, dreams, and future aspirations. The remarkable achievement once again reinforces GGM Science College’s legacy of excellence in sports and its unwavering commitment to nurturing talent and character among students.
