Ganderbal, Feb 24: Omar Abdullah on Tuesday urged Indians in Iran not to ignore the Government of India’s travel advisory and advised them to return while commercial flights are still operating.
Speaking to reporters in Ganderbal, he said that although airports in Iran remain open, the advisory had been issued for valid reasons and should be taken seriously by students, workers and others staying there.
“My request to all the students and people working there is not to ignore the Government of India’s advisory. Get your tickets and come out of Iran. If the situation is good, you can go back,” he said, adding that such advisories are not issued without cause.
He warned that if the security situation deteriorates, evacuation could become difficult. “God forbid, if the situation worsens in the future, it will become a problem for us to get them out,” Abdullah said.
