Measures aimed at decongestion of traffic and improved connectivity for hassle free patient movement at the Hospital: DC

Srinagar : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo along with the Principal of Government Medical College Srinagar, Dr Iffat Shah and SSP Traffic Srinagar, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat on Saturday conducted a comprehensive spot inspection to review traffic decongestion measures and infrastructure upgradation works around Bone and Joint Hospital Barzulla.
The visit aimed at assessing the progress of various interventions undertaken to streamline vehicular movement and improve accessibility for patients, attendants and staff visiting the hospital.
During the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner and the Principal GMC Srinagar reviewed the development of an alternate entry gate to the Bone & Joint Hospital, construction of ramps and small Link Road connecting the main road with the Parking facilities through the Bund side along Bone and Joint Hospital Barzulla aimed at reducing congestion at the main gate and ensuring smooth passage for ambulances and other emergency vehicles.
They also undertook an on-site assessment of the new parking facility to address space constraints in the area. In addition, the Officers examined the progress of works related to the improvement of hospital entry and exit points to minimize bottlenecks to reduce roadside congestion, particularly during peak hours.
The DC along with the officers also took first-hand appraisal of newly constructed underpass connecting alternate access road of Bone and Joint Hospital Barzulla and assess on ground traffic flow and pedestrian movement.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to work in close coordination and adhere to set timelines to ensure early completion of the works to facilitate safe pedestrian movement and reduce traffic interruptions in the larger public interest.
The DC emphasized that the combined measures including alternate access, enhanced parking space and improved traffic management will significantly streamline traffic flow and ensure hassle-free patient access to the hospital.
The DC stated that the District Administration has pushed various traffic decongestion measures on priority across Srinagar, particularly around major healthcare institutions including SMHS Hospital and Super Specialty Hospital with the objective of easing patient movement and reducing congestion in surrounding areas. He added that the administration is committed to strengthening healthcare accessibility and improving traffic management infrastructure for the convenience and safety of citizens, besides for convenience of the doctors and staff working in Hospitals.
