Harvinder flags off 3 water tankers to strengthen rural water supply

Doda : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Doda, Harvinder Singh, Saturday inaugurated the construction work of a 30,000-gallon capacity Ground Service Reservoir (GSR) near the Sericulture Nursery, Mini-Secretariat Doda under the District CAPEX 2025–26 plan.
The project, being executed by the Jal Shakti Department (PHE Division Doda), has been sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs. 22.49 lakh. The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of the Superintending Engineer (SE) PHE Division Doda and other concerned officers.
The Deputy Commissioner inspected the ongoing developmental works and reviewed their progress, stressing the need for timely completion and adherence to quality standards to ensure improved public utility services for the people.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner flagged off three water tankers at DC Office Complex, Doda in presence of the Chief Planning Officer (CPO) Doda, SE PHE and officials of the PHE Department.
The DC said that the tankers will play a vital role in addressing water scarcity in rural areas, particularly in villages such as Panthan, Chiralla, Trown and other water-stressed localities of the district.
He informed that a total of four water tankers have been made available for public service, out of which three were flagged off Saturday. Two tankers have been procured under the District CAPEX budget, while the remaining tankers were provided by the MLA Bhaderwah.
Each tanker has a capacity of 9,000 litres and is equipped with a unique retrofit fire-extinguisher feature, enabling their use not only for water supply but also for controlling fire incidents in rural and remote areas.
