DC Doda flags off 6th National Rafting Championship at Shibnote (Premnagar)

Doda :  The Directorate of Tourism Jammu in collaboration with the district administration Doda successfully commenced the 6th National Rafting Championship at Shibnote (Premnagar) marking the beginning of an exhilarating four-day adventure sports event titled “The Ultimate River Battle,” scheduled from February 19 to February 22, 2026.

The championship was flagged off Saturday by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Doda, Harvinder Singh along with SSP, Sandeep Kumar Mehta and Joint Director Tourism Jammu at the scenic rafting site of Shibnote (Premnagar).

Senior officers and dignitaries were present on the occasion, including ADC Bhaderwah, SDM Thathri, Chief Planning Officer (CPO), Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD), Tehsildar and other district officers and officials.

The event also witnessed enthusiastic participation from sportspersons, artists, locals and tourists from various states, adding vibrancy and excitement to the championship.

The Deputy Commissioner applauded the participants for their enthusiastic spirit and active participation. He also commended the dedicated efforts of the Tourism Department and all stakeholders involved in organizing the event.

The DC emphasized that such large-scale adventure sports initiatives play a vital role in showcasing the natural beauty of the region and unlocking the immense tourism potential of Doda district.

The National Rafting Championship has brought together skilled rafting teams competing amid the thrilling waters and picturesque landscapes of the region, promoting adventure tourism while boosting local engagement and economic activity.

The programme will conclude tomorrow, February 22, 2026, with closing ceremonies and recognition of outstanding performances.
