Ganderbal :Dean Students Welfare (DSW), in collaboration with the Department of Kashmiri, Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) organized a debate competition and a signature campaign on the International Mother Language Day here.
The event themed “Digitizing our Roots: Preserving Language Through Technology” focused on the importance of protecting linguistic heritage in the digital era. Dr. Jehirul Islam, Dean of DSW, emphasized the role of mother languages in shaping identity and culture. The gathering included students, faculty, scholars, and language enthusiasts who discussed innovative strategies for preserving indigenous languages through digital means, documentation, and technology. A debate competition was held as part of the event, featuring participants from various departments. The jury comprised Er. Afaq Alam and Dr. Imitiyaz Hussain. Wani Tamana from the Department of Law won first place, while Falak Parvaiz from the Department of Tourism and Farheen Shafi from the Department of Kashmiri secured the second and third positions, respectively.
