Baramulla : In a step towards safeguarding community rights and preserving traditional heritage, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa Friday issued Title to Community Forest Rights (CFR) certificate in favour of the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community of Village Katianwali Baramulla, in respect of their Traditional Graveyard (Qabristan).
The certificate was formally handed over in the presence of members of the District Level Committee (DLC), including the Divisional Forest Officer, JV Division Baramulla, and the Additional Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Baramulla.
The issuance of the CFR title marks an important milestone under the provisions of the Forest Rights Act, recognizing and securing the customary and traditional rights of forest-dwelling Scheduled Tribes over community forest resources.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC emphasized the administration’s commitment to implementing the Forest Rights Act in letter and spirit, ensuring that eligible beneficiaries receive their due entitlements in a transparent and time-bound manner.
