Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it alongwith the officials of the Geology and Mining Department conducted enforcement actions at different locations in the district Baramulla.
In a statement issued here on Friday Police said that In Baramulla, law enforcers seized a JCB and a tipper (registration number JK01AJ-5036) for illegally extracting and transporting soil from the Authoora area of Kreeri. During routine checks law enforcers of Police Station Kreeri notices violations of legal provisions in soil extraction. The vehicles have been confiscated, and legal proceedings have commenced under the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act (MMDR Act) and the Motor Vehicles Act. Additionally, police, in collaboration with the Geology and Mining Department, carried out enforcement operations across various locations in the district. During these operations, a tractor with Engine No. NKA2UDE0118 was seized at Fresthar Nala for illegal mineral extraction, driven by Sajad Ahmad Ganie. Another tractor (registration number JK22C-5220), operated by Tanveer Ahmad Bhat, was confiscated at Dargam for transporting illegally extracted minerals. Legal actions have also been initiated in these cases under the MMDR Act. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to combat illegal mining activities and appealed people to report unlawful activities in their areas.
