Udhampur : The 137 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force, Udhampur Friday organised a medical cum medicine distribution camp under the civic action programme at Government High School, Roun village, Udhampur, with the objective of extending healthcare facilities to the rural population.
The camp was attended by Ranbir Singh Pathania, MLA Udhampur East along with senior officers of 137 Bn CRPF including M.K. Sicon, Commandant, Kartar Singh, Second-in-Command; R.L. Meena, Deputy Commandant, Sanjeet Kumar, Assistant Commandant and Dr. Manish Rundla, Medical Officer.
During the camp, Medical Officers and Pharmacists from CRPF and the Department of Ayush conducted various health check-ups, including blood sugar testing, ECG, blood pressure monitoring, weight assessment and screening for other ailments.
Free medicines were distributed among the villagers and medical consultations were provided as per individual health requirements.
A team from the Department of Ayush comprising Dr. Monika Sharma, Dr. Vanika Gupta, Dr. Vilakshi Jamwal and Rekha Devi, Pharmacist, created awareness among local women and girls about women-specific health issues. They advised them on preventive healthcare measures and provided counselling regarding physical and mental well-being.
The team also encouraged women to adopt healthy practices and move away from harmful conservative beliefs and habits affecting their health.
The MLA Udhampur East and the local residents appreciated the commendable efforts of 137 Bn CRPF in organising the free medical camp and requested that such welfare-oriented initiatives be conducted regularly in the future for the benefit of the rural community.
