G’bal: Police in Sonamarg conducted a special enforcement drive on Thursday against unregistered service providers, particularly targeting photographers operating without valid authorisation, officials said.
During the operation, 11 unregistered photographers were identified and detained under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. All detained individuals were later produced before the Executive Magistrate in Gund for further legal proceedings, officials added.
According to police, the action was carried out in view of the area’s security sensitivity and the need to regulate services offered to tourists to prevent inconvenience, exploitation, or any untoward incident.
In addition to enforcement, personnel from Police Station Sonamarg organised an awareness campaign to sensitise service providers about proper conduct while dealing with visitors. Officials stressed the importance of lawful operation, professionalism, and courteous behaviour toward tourists.
Police reiterated their commitment to maintaining a safe and tourist-friendly environment and urged all service providers to obtain proper registration and comply with regulations, warning that strict action will continue against violators.
