POONCH, FEBRUARY 19: Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Ghulam Ali Khatana convened a public darbar at the Dak Bungalow today to interact with the general public and listen to their grievances.

During the outreach programme, Khatana listened to various issues raised by locals. Key concerns included developing the district’s tourism potential, increasing awareness programmes in the horticulture and agriculture sectors, municipal issues and progress on Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) works. The public also urged the completion of the Poonch University Campus and Mini Secretariat, inclusion of Punjabi language from nursery class, BPL card issues, addressing shortage of doctors at Poonch Hospital and establishment of a Government Medical College.

The MP directed concerned officers to address these matters on priority. He emphasised that the benefits of government schemes must reach eligible beneficiaries in a transparent and time-bound manner. He assured the public that he would take up their genuine concerns with the respective departments for prompt redressal.

Khatana also reviewed various departmental works during the darbar. He assessed the progress of road projects, status of mobile towers, health-related issues and implementation of horticulture schemes. He further evaluated the functioning of the Social Welfare Department, School Education Department and other developmental initiatives.

District Development Council (DDC) Member, Choudhary Abdul Ghani, Urban Local Bodies Executive Member Rajiv Tandon, Poonch Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Muhammad Sayeed, District Industries Centre (DIC) General Manager Naheem Un Nissa Bhatti, Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Shakeel Ahmed, Haveli Tehsildar Azhar Majid, political leaders and other concerned district officers attended the event.
