“Government schools are now no longer just places of learning. They are becoming hubs of innovation where every child is empowered. Recent JKBOSE results clearly proved it.”

Hilal Ahmad Bhat

Recent data of results shows a sharp rise in pass rates in govt. run schools. Recently with Class 10th achieving 85.23%, class 11th 83.23% and Class 12th reaching 84.02% for the session which ended. To attract more students for education, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has introduced new subjects, including Artificial Intelligence, Entrepreneurship, and Tourism, while adding skill-based electives like Graphic Design and Yoga. Government schools in Kashmir are poised for a potential enrollment boost in the upcoming session, driven by improved JKBOSE board exam performance. Time is ripe to make increase in enrollment and change the mentality of the people.
Key Drivers for Potential Enrollment Growth
Improved Academic Performance: Government High schools and Higher Secondary Schools in Kashmir showed a marked improvement in results, positioning them as competitive alternatives to private institutions.
Curriculum Diversification: The introduction of modern, employability-focused subjects at the stage—such as Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, and Travel & Tourism—offers students broader, relevant educational paths.
Introduction of New Subjects: In addition to core subjects, schools are introducing specialized areas like Heritage Crafts, Creative Writing, and Legal Studies to align with modern educational trends.
Skill-Based Education: The curriculum now includes vocational subjects like Land Transportation Associate, Electronics & Hardware, and Physical Activity Trainers to promote practical skills.
Introduction of subjects at Secondary stage: Govt. is introducing certain subjects at secondary stage as well.

“Rising standards in government educational infrastructure and quality are reshaping public trust. This shift provides a strategic window for the government to implement systemic reforms, capitalizing on the changing mindset of citizens to modernize the future of learning.”

How to attract people for enrollment of children| Key Factors Influencing Enrollment:
Improved Board Results: Strong performance in Class 10th, 11th and 12th exams is boosting public confidence in government-run institutions.
Vocational Education: Implementation of vocational training in 1,350 schools is creating added value for students.
Strategic Shifts: Some students are shifting to government schools after class 8th or 10th to leverage coaching-supported education, despite a, however, noted decline in total government school enrollment of 28,013 in the 2024-25 session.
Conclusion: Overall improvements in Govt. educational quality and infrastructure are rising and may be the years to come people may change their idea of attaining education. It is good time to make a change in educational system by the government.
