Jammu : The final match of 5th Edition Martyrs Memorial Hockey Tournament unfolded with immense fervor and exceptional sportsmanship at the iconic KK Haku Stadium in Jammu. This thrilling encounter pitted the formidable 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗵𝗯𝗮𝗱𝗛𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘆𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆 against the skilled Jammu and Kashmir Police Hockey Team. Organized under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) and patronized by the Director General of Police, J&K, with ADG Armed serving as the event’s Chairman, the tournament underscored the commitment of J&K Police to community engagement and athletic excellence.

Srinagar spectators were treated to a high-octane spectacle as both teams showcased remarkable skill, seamless coordination, and unwavering determination. The closely contested match was a showcase of strategic prowess and impressive goal-scoring, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats. Ultimately, the Shahabad Hockey Academy emerged triumphant with a decisive 3-1 victory, securing the coveted championship title amidst a thunderous ovation from the enthusiastic crowd.

The event was graced by the distinguished presence of former Director General of Police, Kuldeep Khoda, (Rtd) who presided as the Chief Guest. In his address, he extended hearty congratulations to the winning team and lauded both sides for their commendable performance. Mr. Khoda eloquently emphasized the profound importance of sports in cultivating discipline, fostering teamwork, and nurturing a strong sense of camaraderie within the community.

The tournament was organized to honor the supreme sacrifices of brave martyrs, served as a powerful platform to promote sportsmanship and reinforce unity both within the Police and among the wider public. The electrifying finale culminated in a grand prize distribution ceremony, where well-deserved trophies, medals and 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗹 ₹ 3.86 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗵 were awarded to the winning team, Runner-up, 2nd Runner-up and players (Men of the Match/best Goal Keeper/ Man of the tournament) recognizing their outstanding contributions and achievements.

A host of esteemed dignitaries attended the event, including the  Manish Sinha, ADG Hqrs (PHQ)    J&K,  Anand Jain, ADG Armed J&K,  Nitish Kumar, ADG CID J&K,  Bhim Sen Tuti, IGP Jammu Zone,  Suleman Chowdhary, IGP Traffic J&K,  Vivek Gupta, IGP Railways J&K along with all Deputy Inspectors General and Senior Superintendents of Police from Jammu, and Commandants of Jammu-based Battalions, among other senior officials.

The proceedings concluded on a note of immense pride and celebration, powerfully reaffirming the department’s unwavering dedication to encouraging sporting excellence and perpetuating the cherished legacy of its brave martyrs
