Poonch : In a vibrant celebration of national integration and cultural harmony, the Indian Army’s 6 Sector Rashtriya Rifles under the Romeo Force organized a grand Literary Festival at Surankote as part of the ongoing Pir Panjal Winter Festival. The event was held at the auditorium of Government Degree College (GDC) Surankote, nestled in the picturesque foothills of the Pir Panjal range.
The event was conducted under the stewardship of Commander 6 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, Brigadier H. S. Dhillon. Chairperson DDC Mandi, Tazeem Akhter and Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Ashok Kumar Sharma, graced the occasion with their esteemed presence.
Principal GDC Surankote, Prof. Rani Mughal, Principal GDC Poonch, Prof. Jasbir Singh, faculty members, senior officers and a large number of students attended the programme.
Surankote, which had faced significant challenges during Operation Sindoor, witnessed a renewed spirit of unity and resilience as the community gathered to celebrate its rich literary and cultural heritage.
The festival featured eminent poets from the Pir Panjal region including Prof. Fateh Mohd Abbasi, Ishrat Hussain Bhatt, Ahtesham Mohtisham, Gursharan Singh Gulshan, Bashir Lohar, Vijay Sehgal, Azay Saif and Hafeez-ul-Rehman. Through their soulful Urdu poetic renditions, the poets captivated the audience, highlighting themes of national unity, communal harmony and the breathtaking beauty and rich cultural traditions of the Pir Panjal region.
The audience, comprising prominent citizens of Surankote and Poonch along with enthusiastic college students, applauded the performances and expressed deep appreciation for the initiative.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted efficiently by Pardeep Khanna, who ensured the smooth flow of the event.
The Festival will culminate with a Mega Musical Concert scheduled for February 16 at Surankote, featuring enchanting performances by local and national-level artists, further strengthening the bonds of unity and cultural pride in the region.
