Kupwara : In order to ensure smooth and peaceful observance of the forthcoming holy month of Ramzan 2026 and Maha Shivaratri, the Additional Deputy Commissioner, (ADC),Handwara, Javed Naseem Masoodi, Saturday chaired a comprehensive review meeting at the ADC office chamber in Handwara.
The meeting focused on streamlining arrangements to guarantee uninterrupted essential services and adequate security measures during the significant religious occasions.
The Power Development Department (PDD) and Public Health Engineering (PHE) were directed to ensure uninterrupted electricity and water supply, particularly during Sehri and Iftar hours in Ramzan, and at temples during Mahashivratri. Emphasis was laid on prompt redressal of any service disruptions.
To curb hoarding, profiteering, and the sale of sub-standard food items, Tehsildars, Police, and the Civil Supplies Department were instructed to conduct regular market inspections. The President of the Traders Federation was urged to ensure adequate availability of essential commodities at government-approved rates.
The Municipal Committees of Handwara and Langate have been tasked with undertaking intensive sanitation drives around mosques and other religious places to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police briefed the chair on security arrangements and traffic management plans to facilitate smooth movement of devotees and prevent any untoward incidents.
The ADC emphasized close coordination among all concerned departments to uphold the sanctity of the festivals and ensure a hassle-free environment for the general public.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Superintendent of Police Handwara, Executive Engineers of PHE and PDD, Tehsildars of Sub-Division Handwara, officials from Civil Supplies and TSOs, representatives of Municipal Committees Handwara and Langate, and the President of Traders Federation Handwara.
