10 day Skill Development training programme on Traditional Products and Handicrafts commences at DasanooReasi

Reasi: A 10 day Skill Development training programme, organised by Department of Social Welfare, in collaboration with Jammu & Kashmir Rural Livelihood Mission (JKRLM) on ‘Traditional Products and Handicrafts’ commenced at Village Dasanoo, Panchayat Panassa here Friday.
During the programme, the trainees from minority community shall be impart training of making Chabri, Binna, home decor and allied products from local grass under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme.
The programme was inaugurated by District Social Welfare Officer, Reasi, Sachin Sharma.
Speaking on the occasion, DSWO Reasi emphasized on the significance of preserving and promoting traditional crafts like Chhabri Bina while empowering women through skill development and by making them self-reliant.
He highlighted that such trainings play a vital role in promoting self-employment and economic independence among women, particularly from minority communities.
He also stressed that such initiatives under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao contribute to holistic development of women by enhancing their confidence and decision-making abilities.
The DSWO further added that the aim of the programme is to equip participants with practical skills in preparing traditional handicraft products, enabling them to generate income and contribute to their family as well as society.
He encouraged the trainees to make optimum use of the training and transform the acquired skills into entrepreneurial opportunities.
He also sensitized the participants about various financial schemes available to help them to start self-employment ventures, assuring them of support from the department in securing forward-backward linkages with financial institutions.
District Programme Manager, JKRLM, while speaking on the occasion highlighted the importance of such initiatives for building a sustainable livelihood for women in the region.
Officers and officials of SANKAP- Hub for Empowerment of Women, Reasi were also present on the occasion.
