RTO Jammu completes 67,996 vehicle transactions, issues 45,121 driving licences in 2025

Jammu : The Office of the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Jammu hereby informs the general public that during the calendar year 2025, a total of 67,996 vehicle-related transactions were approved in Jammu District. These transactions comprised issuance of fresh Registration Certificates (RCs), transfer of ownership cases, addition and termination of hypothecation (HP), address changes, issuance of duplicate RCs and other allied services.
In addition, 5,906 route permits have been largely renewed and in a few cases, issued afresh to ensure smooth, efficient and uninterrupted public as well as commercial transport operations across the district.
During the same period, 12,111 vehicle fitness certificates were issued after due inspection, ensuring that vehicles complied with prescribed road safety and fitness standards. The department also issued 45,121 driving licences covering fresh licences, renewals, additional endorsements and other related services. Furthermore, 30,576 learner licences were granted to new applicants, enabling them to legally commence their driving training process.
It is further informed that the printing of all Driving Licence cards and RC smart cards is outsourced and centralised. These cards are printed on a real-time basis and are being delivered directly to the addresses mentioned by applicants in their respective DL and RC applications. During the year 2025, a total of 3,10,000 Driving Licences (DLs) were delivered to applicants at their respective addresses.
The Transport Department has consistently endeavoured to deliver services in a transparent, efficient and time-bound manner through its robust online platfor The extensive digitisation of services has significantly transformed departmental functioning by reducing physical interface, enhancing transparency, curbing the role of middlemen and ensuring greater convenience for citizens.
During the year 2025, an amount of ₹1.78 crore as compensation was disbursed and directly transferred into the bank accounts of the legal heirs of accident victims in fatal cases as well as into the accounts of injured persons, strictly as per the prescribed eligibility criteria. Besides this, an amount of ₹2.70 crore was disbursed as transport subsidy to 54 beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Furthermore, 85 additional cases are presently in the pipeline at various stages of processing.
It is pertinent to mention that as on date, no online service application is pending with the department.
