MVD Ramban organises road safety awareness cum free health check-up camp at Sangaldan

Ramban: Motor Vehicles Department Ramban organised a Road Safety Awareness-cum-Free Health Check-up Camp at Sangaldan in Sub-Division Gool Thursday. The programme sensitised drivers, cleaners and the general public on safe driving practices while simultaneously addressing their health concerns.
The camp was led by Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Ramban Kuldeep Singh, who highlighted the importance of strict adherence to traffic regulations, responsible driving behaviour and regular vehicle maintenance to minimise road accidents. He urged drivers to follow speed limits, avoid overloading, wear seat belts and helmets and strictly refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol or fatigue.
A dedicated medical team from the Health Department led by BMO Dr Mohd Iqbal, Dr Tariq Hussain Peerzada and doctors from AYUSH Department Dr Ajaz Ahmed Lone, Dr Muzamil Naseem, Dr Sayed Shah Zeib Bukhari besides paramedical staff conducted comprehensive health examinations of around 250 drivers, cleaners and participants. The check-up included general health screening, blood pressure monitoring, eye examinations and medical consultations. Necessary advice, medicines and health awareness guidance were provided to ensure the fitness and safety of drivers particularly those engaged in long-distance travel.
Speaking on the occasion, the officers emphasised that road safety is a shared responsibility and such outreach programmes are vital for reducing accidents and safeguarding lives. The initiative also reflects the District Administration’s continued commitment to promoting public safety, preventive healthcare and awareness among transport stakeholders, especially in remote areas.
Participants appreciated the initiative, stating that the combined focus on road safety awareness and health check-ups would help drivers remain both cautious on roads and conscious of their health, ultimately contributing to safer transportation across the district.
