DC Ramban reviews measures to decongest roads, ensure smooth traffic movement on NH-44

Ramban: Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan Thursday chaired a meeting to discuss a comprehensive strategy for decongesting roads in Ramban town and ensuring smooth plying of vehicles along the National Highway-44. The meeting focused on improving traffic regulation, road safety and pedestrian convenience through coordinated efforts of the concerned departments.
The meeting was attended by SSP Traffic NHW Raja Adil Hameed, Project Director NHAI Rahul Yadav, Chief Medical Officer, Dy SP Headquarters, Executive Engineer PWD, Tehsildar Ramban, Tehsildar Headquarters, ARTO Ramban, CEO Municipal Council Ramban and other concerned officers.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed the CEO Municipal Council Ramban to remove encroachments along roads and streets within municipal limits and install “No Parking” sign boards at vulnerable locations to ease congestion. He also instructed regulation of rehris (street carts) along roadsides to ensure smooth traffic flow and pedestrian convenience.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the NHAI authorities to install crash barriers, proper signage, speed-limit boards and diversion indicators on the old and existing highway stretches to strengthen traffic regulation. He further stressed ensuring adequate and proper lighting in tunnels from Nashri to Banihal for enhanced commuter safety.
The Executive Engineer PWD was instructed to expedite construction work on the bus stand at Ramban. Additionally, PWD and PMGSY departments were directed to install necessary crash barriers and road safety signages on their respective roads.
To ensure sustained enforcement, the Deputy Commissioner directed Police, Revenue, Motor Vehicles Department and Municipal Council authorities to conduct regular joint drives against encroachments and improper parking in town Ramban besides imposing fines on violators as per existing nor
