Speaker Assembly inaugurates 46th Annual Literary Conference at Jammu

Jammu: Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, Wednesday inaugurated the three day 46th Annual Literary Conference, organised as the Festival of Mother Language, at K L Saigal Hall Writers’ Club, Jammu.
The conference is being organised by Adbi Markaz Kamraz, Jammu and Kashmir, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) sponsored by J&K Bank, with participation of poets, writers and literary personalities from various linguistic backgrounds.
Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker described the conference as a historic initiative aimed at strengthening the linguistic diversity and cultural awareness in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the conference seeks to provide a platform for the dialogue on preservation, recognition and celebration of regional literary traditions while encouraging younger generations to connect with their cultural roots.
The Speaker emphasized that youth engagement remains central to the conference’s objectives as the sessions are designed to raise awareness among the young participants about the significance of cultural identity, heritage and linguistic belonging in an increasingly globalized world.
Underscoring the importance of linguistic plurality and promoting mutual respect among different literary communities, the Speaker felicitated the representatives of various regional languages of J&K recognizing their contribution in preserving and advancing regional linguistic traditions.
The General Secretary of the organisation presented the annual report, outlining the literary, cultural and academic activities undertaken by the organisation during the past year. He also threw light on the future roadmap aimed at strengthening the linguistic diversity and literary engagement.
During the event, the poets representing various languages presented their poetry, reflecting the richness of diverse linguistic traditions and cultural expressions of Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier at the inaugural session, the President of Adbi Markaz Kamraz formally highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting mother languages as an integral part of cultural identity and heritage.
Additional Secretary, JKAACL Lal Chand, Patron of Adbi Markaz Kamraz, Dr. Rafiq Masoodi, along with poets, dramatists, novelists and writers from different languages were present on the occasion.
They appreciated the efforts aimed at promoting the multilingual literary culture and fostering inter-linguistic harmony in the region.
The conference will continue over the next two days with literary sessions, poetry recitations and cultural interactions involving prominent literary figures from across the Union Territory.
