Srinagar : Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi on Wednesday chaired a high-level joint security review meeting at Police Control Room Kashmir in view of forthcoming important events.
The meeting convened with senior officials from J&K Police, Intelligence Agencies, Army, Railways, and Central Armed Police Forces focused on reviewing the security situation in the Kashmir Zone. The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir emphasized the importance of effective intelligence sharing, inter-agency coordination, and public cooperation to ensure peace and security, particularly in light of upcoming events. District Police Chiefs were instructed to enhance market monitoring efforts in collaboration with the Civil Administration to combat hoarding, black marketing, and price inflation of essential goods. Additionally, they were urged to foster community engagement to facilitate the smooth execution of religious and public gatherings. With an expected rise in tourist activity, the meeting called for heightened security measures at tourist sites. Security protocols for railway stations and tracks were assessed, leading to directives for increased patrolling, surveillance, and preventive initiatives to prevent accidents. The security arrangements along the National Highway were also reviewed, with recommendations for further fortification. The IGP Kashmir directed all officers to maintain vigilance, bolster intelligence and response capabilities, and ensure close coordination to support the peaceful conduct of forthcoming events throughout the Kashmir Valley.
