Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has seized three motorized motor boards involved for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, 2 illegal Sand Dumping sites also seized in Baramulla.
In a statement issued here on Monday Police said a police party led by the Station House Officer (SHO) Police Station Awantipora, under the supervision of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) seized mechanized motor boats used for illegal mineral extraction. A case has been registered under FIR No. 32/2026, and further investigations are underway. In a separate incident in Baramulla, Police Post Old Town and the Geology & Mining Department in a joint operation seized two illegal sand dumping sites. Approximately 223 Metric Tonnes of illegally dumped sand were recovered, and legal action has been initiated in accordance with the provisions of the Minor Mineral Concession Rules (MMRD) Act. In its statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it by sharing inputs about illegal mineral extraction or transportation activities in their areas.
