DLSA Reasi organizes awareness camp on legal, welfare services for senior citizens

Reasi: Under the leadership of Khalil Choudhary, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Reasi (also Pr. District and Sessions Judge Reasi) and the able guidance of Pooja Gupta, Secretary, DLSA Reasi, a Legal awareness programme for senior citizens to guide them on accessing legal services and welfare schemes was conducted at Govt. High School Dhanori, Katra.
Adv. Rachni sensitized the participants about the rights, welfare schemes and legal remedies available to senior citizens under various laws including the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act.
The resource person also highlighted the role of Legal Services Authorities in providing free legal aid, counseling and assistance to elderly person.
Another awareness programme on Lok Adalat and Mediation Campaign 2.0 was conducted by the Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) of TLSC Mahore at different places and by Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) of DLSA Reasi at District Court Complex.
The programme aimed at promoting amicable settlement of disputes through Lok Adalat and mediation mechanisms, thereby reducing litigation burden and ensuring speedy, cost-effective and accessible justice for the common people. They were sensitized to actively participate in the campaign with the shared objective of enhancing legal awareness, promoting amicable dispute resolution and strengthening access to justice for all.
Besides, an awareness programme on “Bal VivahMukhat Bharat” was also organized at AWC Didi Bangal, AgharJitto (Katra) by the Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) of TLSC Katra, Reasi.
The main objective of the programme was to educate the general public about the ill effects of child marriage and to promote the vision of a child-marriage-free society.
Another awareness programme was successfully carried out by PLVs of DLSA Reasi at LLC Tote/Sahri on “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao”.
In this programme, the objectives of the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” scheme were highlighted and also elaborated upon various government schemes meant for the welfare, education and empowerment of girls including scholarships, health benefits and legal protections.
