Srinagar: Chairperson Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board and BJP J&K Core Group Member Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi on Friday interacted with media persons at the Dak Bungalow, Kulgam, on the Union Budget 2026–27.
Talking to reporters Dr Andrabi said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Union Budget emphasized grassroots economic stability, infrastructure-led growth, and industrial capacity building, positioning itself as a long-term framework for India’s self-reliance. Dr. Andrabi described the budget as a “guarantee document for Viksit Bharat,” focusing on enhancing domestic manufacturing, ensuring energy security, and reducing import dependence. Key priorities include inclusive measures that support employment, agriculture, household purchasing power, and universal services. The budget aims for an economic growth rate exceeding 7 percent, the highest among major global economies. Notably, the allocation for Jammu & Kashmir has increased by ₹2,000 crore, totaling ₹43,290 crore, reflecting the Central Government’s commitment to the region’s development and economic growth. Significant investments include ₹40,000 crore for the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme and the launch of India Semiconductor Mission 2.0, which are expected to bolster India’s technological capabilities and establish it as a semiconductor power. The budget also outlines plans for new fast-track railway infrastructure, highways, and waterways to enhance connectivity, alongside reforms in rural agriculture, healthcare, and education that promise long-term benefits. Additionally, initiatives aimed at strengthening textiles, handicrafts, and rural livelihoods are anticipated to open diverse global markets. The overall vision of the Union Budget 2026–27 embodies the principles of Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat across all sectors of development.
