DC G’bal reviews arrangements for Maha Shivratri and Holy month of Ramadan

Srinagar : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore Thursday reviewed the preparedness for the upcoming Mahashivratri celebrations and the holy month of Ramadan, and issued necessary directions to ensure smooth and peaceful observance of both occasions.
During the meeting, the DC directed concerned departments to make comprehensive arrangements for the occasion of Mahashivratri.
He emphasized ensuring adequate availability of essential commodities including fish, fresh fruits and vegetables as well as adequate distribution of food grains.
He also stressed uninterrupted water and electricity supply in temples and Pandit colonies.
The Floriculture Department was directed to ensure adequate supply of flowers and proper decoration of temples. Municipality and Rural Development Departments were asked to carry out special sanitation drives in and around temples and other congregation points.
The DC also directed to ensure adequate security, transport, fire safety and medical arrangements.
Reviewing arrangements for the holy month of Ramadan, the DC directed the KPDCL to ensure uninterrupted power supply during Sehri and Iftari hours as well as the Jal Shakti Department to maintain regular water supply, especially to mosques and religious shrines.
He also emphasized adequate availability of quality meat, poultry, food grains, LPG cylinders and other essential commodities across the district.
The DC instructed concerned departments to conduct special market checking drives to curb hoarding, profiteering and overcharging, and to ensure quality and safety of essential ite
He further directed launching special cleanliness drives, particularly around mosques, shrines, markets, roads and drains, with regular lifting of waste to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
The DC called upon all departments to work in close coordination to ensure smooth, safe and peaceful celebrations.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kangan, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Assistant Director Fisheries and other officers and officials from line departments.
