New Delhi : Bharatiya Janata Party Jammu & Kashmir President and Member Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Sat Sharma, CA on Tuesday raised an important issue related to the implementation of the Prime Minister Vishwakarma Yojana in Jammu and Kashmir during the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha.
Speaking in the Rajaya Sabha Sat Sharma inquired about the enrollment of artisans under the PM-Vishwakarma Yojana in Jammu and Kashmir, focusing on verification, approvals, and benefit disbursement. In response, Minister of State for MSME, Su Shobha Karandlaje, detailed that the scheme, launched on September 17, 2023, aims to support traditional artisans across 18 trades. As of January 27, 2026, 1.55 lakh artisans have registered after a thorough verification process, with Jammu district having the highest enrollment. The Minister highlighted significant achievements under the scheme, noting that 1.33 lakh beneficiaries have received Basic Skill Training, and 89,692 artisans have been provided with modern toolkits to enhance their productivity. Additionally, 14,344 beneficiaries have been granted loans totaling ₹132.7 crore as part of the credit support initiative. Sat Sharma praised these figures as evidence of the government’s commitment to empowering artisans and promoting self-employment in Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized the transformative impact of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana on livelihoods and traditional skills, advocating for continued focus on people-centric issues in Parliament and effective implementation of welfare schemes.
