Budgam : A detailed review meeting of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) was convened Tuesday under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din, to assess the progress and implementation of livelihood-oriented interventions in the district.
The meeting was attended by CPO Budgam, Javaid Ahamd Najar; District Programme Managers, Jammu & Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM), Mohammad Saliya Bhat and Zahida Rashid, along with all Block Programme Managers of the district.
During the meeting, an in-depth review of the current status of implementation, achievements on the ground, and the roadmap ahead for strengthening livelihoods under NRLM was undertaken. Detailed discussions were held on key performance indicators, outreach of Self Help Groups (SHGs), and measures required for further consolidation of livelihood initiatives across the district.
A comprehensive presentation was made by the District Programme Managers NRLM, wherein the progress achieved, major interventions, and ongoing activities of JKRLM in Budgam were highlighted. The presentation also outlined future strategies aimed at enhancing income generation and self-reliance among SHG members.
Various proposals were placed before the Chair, including the provision of dedicated spaces for marketing SHG products within the district, allocation of marketing spaces at identified hotspots, and strengthening of the financial inclusion component through the provision of tablets and laptops for Business Correspondents, Bank Sakhis and Bima Sakhis. These initiatives were aimed at improving digital access, financial literacy, and market linkage support for SHG members.
The DC assured that full cooperation and administrative support shall be extended for strengthening the financial inclusion vertical under NRLM, and emphasized that market access and institutional support are critical for the sustainability of SHG-based enterprises.
The DC directed that appropriate support mechanisms and remedial measures shall be explored to mitigate the impact on livelihoods and ensure continuity of income-generating activities for the affected SHG members.
The DC emphasised that concerted efforts must be continued with renewed focus, accountability, and outcome-oriented planning. He reiterated that the district administration remains fully committed to the welfare, economic empowerment, and capacity building of SHG members under NRLM.
The DC further stressed the importance of inter-departmental convergence, effective monitoring, and timely execution of approved initiatives to maximize the impact of NRLM interventions at the grassroots levels.
