Reasi: The Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0 was formally inaugurated Monday at Panchayat Panassa in the Aspirational Block Thakrakote. The launch led by District Development Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik, marks the commencement of the campaign, which will run till April 14, 2026.
During the launch, the DDC inspected stalls set up by the Agriculture, Horticulture, Sheep Husbandry, Health and ICDS Departments, where officers informed the public about ongoing schemes and welfare programmes.
The event also featured a solemn Sampoornata pledge and signature campaign, while selfie points were put up for participants to cherish the memories of the day.
Officers highlighted the schemes being implemented in Thakrakote and assured 100% saturation of all eligible beneficiaries during the campaign period. The Health Department conducted on-the-spot health screenings. The programme also featured cultural performances by students from local schools.
The campaign seeks to strengthen child nutrition, health, education and livestock management by ensuring regular supplementary nutrition for children aged 6 months to 6 years under the ICDS programme, improving measurement efficiency of children enrolled at Anganwadi Centres and increasing the percentage of operational Anganwadi Centres with functional toilets and access to drinking water. It also aims to enhance the availability of girls’ toilet facilities in schools and ensure vaccination of bovine animals.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC commended the success of the first phase of Sampoornata Abhiyan in Thakrakote and outlined the objectives of the second phase.
The DDC emphasized the importance of community participation and coordinated efforts by officials to ensure effective implementation. She added, “The objective is to transform Thakrakote from an ‘aspirational’ block into an ‘inspirational’ model for other regions.”
She also lauded students for their performances and acknowledged the support of teachers and parents.
A plantation drive was also conducted, during which the DDC planted Terminalia arjuna saplings. Soil health cards and walnut saplings were also distributed among beneficiaries.
