Awantipora : The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) convened its 12th meeting of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at the main campus, chaired by the Vice-Chancellor.
The meeting included key university stakeholders such as deans, faculty members, and a student representative, highlighting the importance of IQAC in enhancing academic quality, governance, and student services. The quarterly meeting underscored the leadership’s commitment to ongoing quality reviews within the institution. Dr. Peer Bilal, Director of DIQA, reported significant institutional achievements for 2025, including IUST’s first-time entry into three categories of the NIRF-2025 and receiving the 6th National Water Award for excellence in water conservation. The university also introduced new undergraduate and postgraduate programs, experienced a nearly 70% increase in student admissions over two years, and achieved a 75% placement rate. Research and innovation at IUST have seen notable advancements, with faculty publishing 376 Scopus-indexed papers and achieving 9,975 citations, resulting in a Scopus h-index of 75. Additionally, 35 patents were published or granted during the year, and IUST maintained a 4-Star rating under the Ministry of Education’s Institutions Innovation Council framework. The IQAC reviewed the Action Taken Report from the previous meeting and discussed various agenda items, including a Gender Audit, enhancements to the Plagiarism Policy with AI provisions, a University-wide Waste Management Policy, a review of the Student Satisfaction Survey, and the implementation of a uniform examination pattern. The Chairperson emphasized the necessity for ongoing collaborative efforts, regulatory compliance, and evidence-based planning to further enhance IUST’s quality assurance framework and its national reputation. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Athar Ud Din, Deputy Director of DIQA.
