Ramban|: The 84 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Monday paid rich tributes to Shaheed Constable Mushtaq Ahmed on his 18th Martyrdom Anniversary here at Parnote.
Shaheed Constable Mushtaq Ahmed laid down his life in the line of duty on February 2, 2008, during an anti-Maoist operation in the Maoist-affected Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh. At the time of the incident, a column of the 63 Battalion CRPF personnel was returning after a major operation when it was ambushed by a heavily armed group of Maoists. Displaying exceptional courage and tactical skill, the CRPF personnel retaliated effectively. The force tactically split into two teams and launched a counter-offensive, forcing the Maoists to flee after sustaining casualties and injuries.
During the intense encounter, Constable (Driver) Mushtaq Ahmed, a resident of Maitra, Ramban, fought valiantly and attained martyrdom while defending the nation. He is survived by his wife, Veer Nari Smt. Rubina Begum and two sons.
To commemorate his supreme sacrifice, the 84 Bn CRPF organized a solemn function at Oakfield International School, Parnote Maitra. The ceremony was attended by Commandant 84 Bn CRPF N. Ranbir Singh, Second-in-Command Vikram Singh, Assistant Commandants R. R. Meena and Vikash Kumar, along with over 100 CRPF personnel, family members of the martyr, prominent local residents and students.
Floral tributes were paid to the martyr and his courage, dedication and selfless service were remembered with deep respect and pride. The Commandant expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and reaffirmed the CRPF’s commitment to stand by the families of martyrs, stating that the nation would always remain indebted to their supreme sacrifices.
The ceremony concluded with a moment of silence and prayers for eternal peace, followed by the presentation of a shawl and memento to the Veer Nari by the Commandant.
