Truck accident in Ganderbal leaves one dead, one injured

Ganderbal, Feb. 2: One person was killed and another injured after a truck overturned and fell onto a residential house at S-Mode in the Hariganiwan area of Ganderbal district on Monday, officials said.
The accident occurred when the truck, travelling from Sonamarg, lost control while negotiating a sharp curve near S-Mode. The vehicle skidded off the road, overturned and landed partially on a nearby house.
The driver and the conductor were injured in the mishap and were immediately taken to Sub-District Hospital (SDH), Kangan. The driver, who was critically injured, was later referred to the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased was identified as Sameer Ahmad Lone of Chuntimulla in Bandipora district.
The conductor, Bilal Ahmad Khan of Pattan in Baramulla district, sustained minor injuries and is undergoing treatment.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
