Ganderbal : In furtherance of the nationwide initiative “Mediation for The Nation 2.0”, Principal District & Sessions Judge (PD&SJ) (Coordinator District Mediation Center), Ganderbal, chaired a meeting with Judicial Officers and Trained Mediators of the District to review, deliberate and strengthen the implementation of ‘Mediation for the Nation Campaign 2.0’.
The meeting, attended by Judicial Officers and Trained Mediators, focused on identifying cases suitable for mediation and emphasizing the importance of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms in reducing pending cases. Pr. District & Sessions Judge stressed that judicial officers should verify records and identify cases fit for mediation, and instructed them to pre-pone cases by issuing notices to parties.
During the deliberations, the PD&SJ highlighted the objectives of the Mediation for the Nation 2.0 campaign, which aims to institutionalize mediation as a preferred mode of dispute resolution across the country. Mediators were apprised about the campaign’s importance, assured of additional empanelment as needed and were also informed about Honorarium payment strictly as per MCPC Guidelines. It was further decided to organize awareness programs in the district to educate litigants and the public about mediation benefits.
The meeting highlighted the role of judicial officers and mediators in promoting mediation, with a focus on civil, matrimonial, commercial, and criminal compoundable matters.
The campaign aims to institutionalize mediation as a preferred dispute resolution mode, fostering a culture of dialogue and consensual resolution.
Judicial Officers and Trained Mediators shared their experiences, challenges, and best practices related to mediation, and constructive suggestions were discussed to further improve the outreach and success of the initiative in District Ganderbal. The PD&SJ reiterated the district’s commitment to making Mediation for the Nation 2.0 a success.
The meeting concluded with a resolve to work collectively to strengthen mediation mechanisms in the district and to ensure that the benefits of this people-centric initiative reach the grassroots level.
