Srinagar: From the halls of high-level diplomacy to the heartbeat of local communities “Kashmir Horizon” deconstructs the week’s complexities into clear, actionable insights. Whether it was a policy shift that redefined Governance and economy or a cultural milestone that trended within and outside J&K here are the few highlights :-,

  1. India On Fast Track To 3rd-Largest Economy: President Droupadi Murmu said India is the world’s fastest-growing major economy and is moving towards becoming the third-largest in the near future, despite global uncertainties.She highlighted large-scale investments in world-class infrastructure and emphasized self-reliance and Swadeshi as guiding principles for India’s economic progress.
  2. GST & Labour Reforms Strengthen Economy, Says Murmu:  The President called the implementation of GST a landmark move for economic integration and said recent labour reforms under the four Labour Codes would benefit workers and boost enterprise development. Murmu urged people to embrace the spirit of “Nation First” and work together to make the Republic stronger. She extended greetings, wishing citizens peace, security, and harmony.
  3. People’s Welfare At Core Of Pre-Budget Consultations, Says CM Omar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reiterated his government’s commitment to an inclusive and participatory approach in budget preparation. Concluding pre-budget consultations with MLAs from eight districts of the Jammu division, Abdullah said the meetings were aimed at understanding the needs and priorities of people at the grassroots level. “After listening to you, we get ideas that we had not thought about. If you benefit from the budget, Jammu and Kashmir will benefit,” he said.
  4. Brij Lal Bhat Urges Comprehensive Policy for Kashmiri Pandit Return: Brij Lal Bhat, a social worker from the Kashmiri Pandit community who was named a recipient of the Padma Shri award in the ‘unsung heroes’ category, said that clear rays of positivity were visible on the ground after decades of bloodshed in Kashmir. He stressed that a comprehensive policy was needed for the return of his community to the Valley.
  5. J&K Govt Hikes Honorarium For Vocational Trainers: The Jammu and Kashmir Government announced an increase in the monthly honorarium for Vocational Trainers under Samagra Shiksha and PM SHRI. Trainers engaged before April 1, 2022, will now receive Rs 25,000 per month, while those engaged on or after that date will get Rs 22,000. Earlier, they were receiving Rs 24,000 and Rs 20,000, respectively. The revised rates, effective from April 1, 2024, will include arrears disbursed by Vocational Training Partners.
