Says “ No compromise on statehood, Zero power curtailment targeted in cities, towns next year”
Srinagar : Advisor to Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani on Saturday said that while the J&K government maintains no ties with the BJP, cordial relations with the Government of India are essential for governance. He said “It is a normal practice that the Chief Minister meets the Home Minister or the Prime Minister. If he does not do that, how will the work of the state get done”.
Wani asserted that statehood is a constitutional right, stating, “This is our right and we should definitely get it. I do not think there is any scope for compromise now”. He added that if delays persist, the Centre “should tell us what the reasons are, what we have to improve in ourselves and how we will qualify to get it. That also has to be discussed”. He firmly rejected the division of Jammu and Kashmir, accusing proponents of “the politics of breaking”. Aiming for near-zero curtailment in urban areas by next year. A committee is currently verifying the genuineness of daily wagers for prompt resolution. About alleged harassment of Kashmiris outside the Valley he said that the CM has engaged with other state leaders and confirmed, “The Chief Minister spoke to the CMs and FIRs have been registered. We have been assured of action”.
