Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Sopore &Awantipora and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Saturday Police said that during a police operation at Aftab Mohallah, Warpora crossing, two individuals, Ghulam Nabi Bhat and Aabid Hussain War, were apprehended while attempting to flee. A search revealed a Charas-like substance in their possession. In a separate incident in Awantipora, police intercepted Abdul Qayoom Beig during a naka checking at Reshipora, recovering 630 grams of a similar substance. All suspects have been arrested and taken to their respective police stations, where they remain in custody. Cases have been registered under relevant laws, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the sources and connections related to the drug trafficking. In its statement Police emphasized its commitment to zero-tolerance policy towards drug trafficking and intelligence-driven actions aimed at protecting the youth and society from drug-related issues, appealing therein people to cooperate and disseminate information to help combat the drug menace effectively.
