Jammu : Government Degree College Marh observed Martyrs’ Day with deep reverence and patriotic spirit, paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi and all the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for India’s independence and unity.
The programme was organized to reflect upon Gandhian values of truth, non-violence and service to the nation, while remembering the courage and sacrifices of national martyrs.
On the occasion, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science Sachin Kumar Bhagat briefed the students on the historical significance of Martyrs’ Day and highlighted the invaluable sacrifices made by freedom fighters in shaping independent India. He emphasized the relevance of Gandhian philosophy in contemporary society and the responsibility of youth in nation-building.
A short documentary film on Mahatma Gandhi and the freedom struggle was screened, followed by a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the martyrs.
The event was organized by Dr. Madhavi Prasher, Prof. Malti Rajput and Ravi Kumar along with faculty members and students. The programme fostered an atmosphere of reflection, patriotism and national consciousness across the campus.
