Ganderbal: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Patwari of the Revenue Department in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹15,000, officials said on Friday.
The accused, posted at Mouza Gadoora in Ganderbal, was arrested after the agency laid a trap following a complaint alleging demand of illegal gratification, they said. According to the CBI, a case was registered on January 28 after it was alleged that the Patwari had demanded ₹20,000 for issuing a Jamabandi extract and for rectification of land revenue records. The CBI caught the accused red-handed while accepting ₹15,000 from the complainant and subsequently arrested him, officials said. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
