Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested six drug peddlers from various locations and recovered contraband/psychotropic substances from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Friday Police said that in Anantnag, police intercepted a vehicle at Achabal Chowk and recovered 16 grams of a heroin-like substance from the driver, Arif Ramzan Mir. In a related operation in Pulwama, officers stopped a Thar vehicle and found 11 bottles of Codeine Phosphate with two individuals, Mohd Fahad and Aman, both from Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, in Sopore, police arrested two more suspects, Mohd Umar Dar and Nisar Ahmad Bhat, during the investigation of a drug-related case besides recovering Codeine Phosphate. In another incident one Farooq Ahmad Malla, was caught attempting to flee at Hadipora Crossing, where charas-like substances were found in his possession. All suspects have been arrested, and the vehicles involved in these drug-related activities have been seized. Relevant cases have been registered, and investigations are underway. In its statement police emphasized its commitment to zero-tolerance policy towards drug trafficking and dismantling drug networks, appealing therein people to cooperate with it to combat drug abuse in society.
