Repeated Challenges To India’s Strength Necessitated Firm Responses: PM Modi

New Delhi: ‎Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the Economic Survey tabled in Parliament presents a comprehensive picture of India’s “reform express,” underscoring the country’s steady economic progress even amid a challenging global environment.
He said the Survey reinforces confidence in India’s economic future and provides a clear roadmap towards the goal of a Viksit Bharat.
‎In a post on X after the Economic Survey 2025-26 was laid before Parliament, PM Modi said the document reflects “strong macroeconomic fundamentals, sustained growth momentum and the expanding role of innovation, entrepreneurship and infrastructure in nation-building.”
‎“The Economic Survey tabled today presents a comprehensive picture of India’s Reform Express, reflecting steady progress in a challenging global environment,” the Prime Minister said. “The insights offered will guide informed policymaking and reinforce confidence in India’s economic future.”
‎The Prime Minister said the Survey highlights the importance of inclusive development, with focused attention on farmers, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), youth employment and social welfare. According to him, this approach ensures that growth is broad-based and reaches all sections of society.
‎The Economic Survey, prepared under the guidance of Chief Economic Advisor V Anantha Nageswaran, outlines how policy reforms over the past decade have strengthened India’s economic resilience, improved productivity and expanded opportunities for entrepreneurship, while also cushioning the economy against global shocks.
PM Modi said the Survey lays out a clear roadmap for strengthening manufacturing, enhancing productivity and accelerating India’s transformation into a developed nation. “It outlines the roadmap for strengthening manufacturing, enhancing productivity and accelerating our march towards becoming a Viksit Bharat,” he said. The document points to the growing role of innovation and entrepreneurship, supported by infrastructure expansion and reforms, as key drivers of India’s long-term growth strategy.
‎The Prime Minister’s remarks came after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tabled the Economic Survey in Parliament, setting the context for the union Budget. The Survey serves as the government’s annual assessment of the state of the economy and provides policy guidance for the year ahead.
‎By highlighting stability, reforms and inclusivity, PM Modi said, the Survey sends a strong signal of confidence about India’s economic direction. “The Survey underscores the expanding role of innovation, entrepreneurship and infrastructure in nation-building,” he said, adding that it would help shape informed and forward-looking policymaking.
The Economic Survey 2025-26 is expected to form the analytical foundation for the upcoming Budget, as the government looks to balance growth, fiscal prudence and inclusive development while navigating an uncertain global landscape.
