Reasi District Development Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik, Thursday inaugurated a modern Bakery Unit established by the Bhambla Multipurpose Cooperative Society at Bhambla under the Micro Food Processing Unit Scheme. The unit, named ‘The Cooperative Bake House’, has been set up with financial support provided under the UT Capex Programme by the Cooperative Department.
The DDC described the venture as a significant step towards strengthening the local food processing sector, promoting entrepreneurship and generating employment opportunities for local youth.
Under the Micro Food Processing Scheme, a credit-linked subsidy of 50 percent along with 100 percent interest subvention is provided to the beneficiary. The Bakery unit has been established at a cost of ₹10.00 lakh, of which ₹9.00 lakh has been extended as credit by JCC Bank, while ₹1.00 lakh has been contributed by the society. The 50 percent subsidy on the loan, along with 100 percent interest subvention is being borne under the UT Capex Programme by the Cooperative Department, thereby enabling cooperatives to establish sustainable ventures in the food processing sector.
The DDC inspected the machinery and fixtures procured and reviewed the bakery products being prepared at the unit. The management and members of Bhambla MPCS briefed her about various initiatives being implemented by the Cooperative Department in Bhambla and other parts of the district.
The DDC highlighted the importance of micro food processing units in boosting rural livelihoods and encouraging self-employment. She appreciated the efforts of the Cooperative Department in facilitating the establishment of the unit.
The DDC urged the society members to make optimum use of government support to expand their business activities and ensure quality production.
Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies, Bhawani Atri; Tehsildar Pouni and other officials were present at the inauguration.
