Pulwama: Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested two gamblers and also seized stake money during a raid in Murran area of Pulwama.
In a statement issued here on Thursday Police said that a police team from Police Station Pulwama conducted a raid based on specific inputs regarding gambling activities near a Marriage Hall in Murran. During the operation two individuals, identified as Mohd Saleem Sheikh and Imtiyaz Ahmad Ganie, both local residents were arrested. Four other suspects managed to escape, and efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend them. During the raid, authorities seized playing cards and stake money totaling ₹9,000 from the arrested individuals. A case has been registered under FIR No. 13/2026, and an investigation is currently underway. In its statement Police emphasized its commitment to maintain public order and appealed people to report any unlawful or suspicious activities to facilitate prompt action.
